Before browsing through the list of cameras and their specifications you should ask a few questions and see whether the cameras you select satisfies your criteria

1. Do you need night vision and does the camera support it?

If you are going to install a camera in a low light area that is the lighting conditions are low at certain portions of a day, the camera should be able to record video in the dark.

2. Do you want your cameras to be wireless/WiFi?

WiFi or wireless cameras send video signals directly to the router fro where it is recorded in the NVR or cloud. Though the resolution of such cameras are not so clear as the wired ones, you may need WiFi cameras where having a complex wiring facility is difficult. For example if you need to monitor a fishery to stop theft of your cultivated fishes and the water body is too large to run coaxial cables, WiFi cameras are more useful in such a case. Typically wired cameras are good for distances within 500 feet. Beyond that you should use WiFi cameras.

3. What should be the range of the camera?

If you are looking for surveillance cameras for indoors, range isn’t an issue. But if you are monitoring a space more than 100 feet and you want clear picture, then select a long range camera.

4. What resolution do you need for your camera?

If the space you want to monitor is small like an ATM counter an SD camera will be sufficient. But if you need to monitor a wider space a 720p or 1080p camera is what you should be looking for.

5. Do you need your camera to be weatherproof?

If you are installing the camera which is susceptible to dust, rain or snow, you should go for a camera with good IP rating. Most bullet cameras are weatherproof.
